NOW I DON’T LOVE YOU ANYMORE, FORGIVE ME
Abbas Naaseri / In all of our hearts, as cartoonists, the moment we first saw a cartoon shone brightly, and we’ll never forget that wonderful moment.
When I saw the first cartoon that shone before my eyes, it made me wonder and fall in love with this art. It was the masterpice caricature of Maradona, created by master Javad Alizadeh in 1988.
Since that day, we grew up with cartoons and lived through them till now. Unfortunately, cartoons and the atmosphere surrounding them no longer have the beauty and purity they once had.
Perhaps I could say that I have reached a point where I no longer like it… As Master Alizadeh once said, nothing is serious… But, my dear master, some have taken the powerful seriously, and in hopes of gaining benefits from the past, present, and future, they support them and serve them in such a way that no one dares to criticize them, fearing retaliation from their supporters.
This world of cartoons is no longer a place to live. Either we must leave it or reshape it to make it livable. I don’t take festivals seriously, nor do I care about the results, the injustices, the world, or life.
But the art to which I have devoted my whole life is very serious to me. And I strive to make better days for it.
Today, we don’t have much power. Not only the powerful, but sometimes, we don’t have even enough power against our closest friends. However, by forming a professional team, we will carefully review and publish the backgrounds, qualifications, expertise, and integrity of each judge introduced by the festivals, in detail, in the Cartoon Magazine.
We won’t get tired, no matter how hard they try to wear us out.
My dear friends, for now, to lift our spirits and forget the recent distractions, let’s write about the first cartoon that made you fall in love with this art, which artist created it, and how you felt at that moment.
